PQE Partners are representing a high-calibre client in the financial services sector who are seeking a Legal Counsel to join their established and collaborative legal team. This role will see you partner closely with business teams to advise on a wide variety of complex financing transactions, offering a dynamic mix of transactional support, legal risk management and stakeholder engagement.

PQE Partners are representing a high-calibre client in the financial services sector who are seeking a Legal Counsel to join their established and collaborative legal team. This role will see you partner closely with business teams to advise on a wide variety of complex financing transactions, offering a dynamic mix of transactional support, legal risk management and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on transactions, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations and governance frameworks.
- Support the structuring, negotiation and review of transaction documentation across a diverse range of financing matters.
- Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks, working closely with internal teams such as Credit, Portfolio Management and Compliance.
- Manage external legal advisers, ensuring efficiency, quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development of template documents, training materials and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance legal capability across the business.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to financing transactions.
- Support senior legal counsel in delivering on the strategic and operational objectives of the wider business.
- At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience gained in-house at a large financial institution/corporate or within a top/mid-tier law firm.
- A strong background in banking and finance law, ideally with experience spanning business banking, corporate and trade finance, and exposure to risk participation agreements.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
- A current practising certificate as a solicitor in New South Wales or another jurisdiction.
