PQE Partners is partnering with an established global financial services organisation to appoint a Legal Counsel to its Australian legal team.

This is a broad in-house opportunity covering transactional finance, commercial contracting, regulatory matters and general legal advisory work. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, providing practical legal advice and supporting a variety of commercial and operational matters.

The role would suit a lawyer with experience in banking & finance, asset finance or a related commercial practice who is looking to develop a broad in-house career within a collaborative and commercially focused environment.

As Legal Counsel, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of financing and security documentation;
  • Advise on transactional matters, including security arrangements and PPSA considerations;
  • Review and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements with key business partners;
  • Assist with maintaining and improving the organisation's suite of legal documents and precedents;
  • Provide advice in relation to enforcement, disputes and insolvency matters as they arise;
  • Support the business on relevant regulatory and compliance issues;
  • Partner with stakeholders across commercial, credit, risk and compliance functions; and
  • Work with external legal advisers where additional specialist support is required.

You will be an Australian-qualified lawyer with 2+ years' PQE, gained in private practice or in-house. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in banking & finance, asset finance or a related transactional area;
  • Exposure to financing arrangements, security documentation and the PPSA;
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and commercial contracting skills;
  • Some familiarity with financial services regulatory or compliance matters;
  • A practical and solutions-focused approach to legal advice;
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with a broad range of stakeholders; and
  • The ability to manage your own workload and competing priorities in a busy environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established international organisation in a genuinely broad legal position, offering exposure across transactional, commercial and regulatory matters and the opportunity to work closely with the business.
