About the opportunity
PQE Partners is working on a newly created opportunity with an ASX-listed financial services organisation undergoing significant operational and risk transformation, including the embedding of enhanced risk and control frameworks within the business.
This role sits within the business and focuses on how controls are operating in practice. You’ll play a key role in assessing control effectiveness, identifying gaps and driving continuous improvement across operational processes, rather than operating in a purely advisory or audit capacity.

This role sits within the business and focuses on how controls are operating in practice. You’ll play a key role in assessing control effectiveness, identifying gaps and driving continuous improvement across operational processes, rather than operating in a purely advisory or audit capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead control testing and assurance activities across operational processes
- Assess control effectiveness and identify gaps, weaknesses and improvement opportunities
- Support the design and enhancement of controls to strengthen risk outcomes
- Work closely with frontline teams to embed practical, effective controls into day-to-day operations
- Monitor performance metrics and reporting to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Support internal and external audit processes where required
- Contribute to broader risk uplift and transformation initiatives
- Experience in QA, controls, operational risk or a similar role within financial services or a regulated environment
- Strong understanding of control testing, assurance or process improvement
- Ability to assess processes critically and identify practical improvements
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to work closely with business teams
- Commercial mindset with a focus on practical, workable outcomes
- Business-facing Line 1 role focused on control assurance and improvement
